Cambodia's mostly unplanned and unregulated process of urbanization has resulted in several major problems such as lack of infrastructure and urban services, traffic congestion, increased urban flooding and more importantly the neglect of the urban poor and the environment and the lack of pro-poor, inclusive urbanization processess.

Due to the lack of research addressing the socio-economic and environmental impact of urbanization, UNFPA Cambodi commissioned a desk review backed up wit interviews with key informants to explore the current impact of urbanization on soci-economic and environmental issues in Cambodia. This first report also looks at the sexual and reproductive health status of people in urban setting and draws the attention to the existence of poverty in urban settings.
