Key Population Data
UNFPA works to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect. UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programmes to reduce poverty.
UNFPA works in partnership with other international technical and donor agencies has played a leading role in supporting censuses in developing countries. A population census is the primary source of information about the country's population size, its geographic distribution, and the social, demographic and economic characteristics of its people.
